Angel tattoo designs are gaining popularity

Gambar
Angel tattoos are probably the most common designs for women worldwide. Angel tattoos can be versatile and may be used to create unique designs in a lot of different ways. Angels are thought to be one of the most beautiful heavenly creatures and represent different ideas to different individuals. Professional tattoo studios typically have a number of angel tattoos to pick from and each might possibly be altered into whatever design you'd like. Angels have represented beauty, purity, and spirituality in several different cultures throughout history. The character of a angel has often been employed to symbolize someone's transformation to a higher plane of existence, either physically, mentally, or spiritually. Most angel tattoos have a great amount of detail so the attractive nature associated with the design and style and the intricate aspects of a design can match the loveliness associated with the angels which have been depicted in literature and art. Angel tattoos are easily...

A West Side Shark

Gambar
It's Shark Week, folks, last week I spotted this fierce creature on the subway on the Upper West Side: Like just seeing a fin in the water, this is only a part of the whole tattoo, which wraps fully around the host's upper right arm. It was a quick subway encounter, but I was able to get the photo on the 72nd Street platform and identify the artist, Kurt, formerly of Lola's Tattoos  ( @lolastattoos ) in Bogota, New Jersey. Kurt now runs Hommage Tattoo  ( @hommagetattoo ) in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. As for the woman who so graciously shared this fierce creature, I haven't heard back from her, so she will remain anonymous, for now. Be safe out there, folks! This entry is ©2019 Tattoosday. Repost: Blaise's Sugar Skulll

Gambar
I wanted to post something appropriate for this, the last day of June, as several million people are anticipated to be celebrating Pride in Manhattan. This tattoo was spotted back in 2012, and was done by our "family" artist, Alex McWatt (@alexthreekings) , out of Three Kings Tattoo (@threekingstattoo) in Manhattan. Behold: I met Blaise on a sunny spring day [in 2012] near the corner of 8th Avenue and 33rd Street. He has a lot of ink, the majority of which was tattooed by Alex McWatt of Three Kings Tattoo in Brooklyn. Blaise pointed out the sugar skull in the center of his arm: This is a sugar skull with a twist - note the rainbow spilling forth from the jaw and, in case you can't tell from the photo, that's a shark riding the rainbow wave. Blaise singled this out because the tattoo was conceived in partnership with his little sister. It refers to a project they had done together. Thanks to Blaise for sharing this cool tattoo with us here on Tattoo...

Michael McInnis on the Tattooed Poets Project

Gambar
Today's tattooed poet, on this last Saturday in April, is Michael McInnis. Michael sent the following picture: Michael tells us: "I spent 6 years in the Navy, but never got a tattoo until after I got out. For the necklace, I was inspired by the Mel Gibson/Anthony Hopkins version of Mutiny on the Bounty , and because a shipmate had been killed by a great white while we were in Diego Garcia (see the prose poem below). What better way to honor that by wearing shark's teeth as a talisman and spirit animal. It was done by Bryn Taylor ( @taylormadetattoo ) in the back room of my old bookstore when tattooing was still illegal in Massachusetts. Bryn eventually moved to California, worked for Lyle Tuttle , and then opened his own shop in the Bay Area, Taylor Made Tattoo ." Travelogue of Diego Garcia 1 The Indian Ocean off Diego Garcia swallowed a shipmate. The coral glowed pink and yellow and came rushing up at him as he thrashed to reach the surface. So, this is it then....

Taylor's Undersea Tattoo

Gambar
Last month, I spotted Taylor shopping at a local drug store in Brooklyn, on a particularly warm day. She had this cool thigh tattoo and was kind enough to share it with us:  Taylor explained, "I've just always loved fish, mermaids, the ocean," noting that the mermaid  is "purple for my grandma, because that's her favorite color." She also added, "we've got Hank from Finding Dory up in there." Those unfamiliar with the film should not Hank is the octopus. Taylor credited the work to Erica Flannes ( @ericaflannes ) at Red Rocket Tattoo  ( @redrockettattoo ) in Manhattan. Thanks to Taylor for sharing her cool undersea thigh tattoo with us here on Tattoosday! This entry is ©2018 Tattoosday.
